I like the story of Harry Smith's 2nd Battalion 95th Rifles from the War of 1812.
They burst in to the Whitehouse and found it deserted and a banquet laid out ready. So, being soldiers, they sat down and started tucking in as the place burnt around them.

Yeah, but it was no great loss.
The American colonies cost us far more to garrison with troops than we made in taxes. We should have just let them go without a fight. Now if we can get rid of Wales and Scotland we'd be laughing.

Scotland doesn't have oil.
England has oil, since England has a navy and Scotland doesn't.
The Scottish deficit is about £15billion now. That's £5billion more than the North Sea oil industry generates.
