actually, it has happened,season six begins before the crash, although the characters are not as we first saw them, or in the same positions they were... The effects of the explosions in the 70's has altered individual timelines.

in season 1 we saw each character before and after the crashthe climax to seaosn 5 has now altered the past for each character, and they will start off the final season showing how each character's history has changed prior to the crash that hasn't happened to them yet...
