Why aren't they cutting the stations they've got two of?5 live and sports extra is one too many surely?
Radio 4 and 7 are both books and plays and stuff.
Seems a bit stupid to say new music is important and kill off Radio 6
And its hard to believe that the Asian network is short of listeners

I agree with Sports extraIt's usually used for football (which is also playing on the relevant local station) and long sports events like the tennis matches.
It's got a place, but it could just as easily be internet only.
Radio 7 seems pointless now because of the iPlayer, and the amount of old stuff avaialble on there.
Asian Network is slightly trickier to defend, because there are so many commercial asian stations in the areas it would be listened to.
One of its bods was on % Live yesterday saying it provides a great deal of documentaries and drama, that commercial stations wouldn't be able to provide, but surely these should be covered by the mainstream anyway?
6music, to me, has only one realistic competitior in XFM (which is now so utterly shit it makes me want to listen to Absolute), but that's regional. So for people in Cornwall, or whereever, it is one of the only outlets for new music they've got.
