That was one of the most charming aspects of arriving in Birmingham.Upon enquiry as to the location of a newsagent to enable the acquisition of tobacco products, I was sagely informed that "The Paki shop down the road there should still be open".

back when i used to use the local laundrettei was in there once and i happened to ask where the nearest post office was. this little old lady said to me "there's a shop round the corner that has a post office counter, but it's run by-" at this her voice went quiet as if she were entering some conspiracy, "-a dark fellow." Then, throwing all caution to the wind, she began to cackle loudly "it's a paki shop! a paki shop!" old people are funny.
