Easy money, I'm guessing.
And a complete lack of creativity on the part of Hollywood. There's still some good stuff coming out from non-US sources. Sadly, for every 'The Lives of Others' or '36' we get 10 'Saw' sequels and the like.

Indeed what has happened to the genuinely funny people?
There is no new talent just people who act and we are told these are funny guys and we must find them funny else we are not funny and are void of a sense of humour.

Americans have lost their sense of humour
as Friday and Saturday Night Live did launch some genuine funny people - Mike Myers, Steve Martin (in his early stuff), Bill Murray etc.

Steve Carel is funny
even if his film choices leave a bit to be desired And I like Seth Rogen too. But I prefer comedies where they use proper actors. Like Midnight Run
