it's just heartbreaking what they are trying to cash in on...
Flight of the Navigator? Karate Kid? Robocop? Total Recall?
WHY?!?!?

And a complete lack of creativity on the part of Hollywood. There's still some good stuff coming out from non-US sources.
Sadly, for every 'The Lives of Others' or '36' we get 10 'Saw' sequels and the like.

There is no new talent just people who act and we are told these are funny guys and we must find them funny else we are not funny and are void of a sense of humour.

as Friday and Saturday Night Live did launch some genuine funny people - Mike Myers, Steve Martin (in his early stuff), Bill Murray etc.

As such, they generally won't go to see "old" films, so if they "remake" them, they're more attractive, they can make more money out of the same francise, and generally buying the rights is cheaper than employing scripwriters and all that bollocks to come up with something original and/or interesting.

Partly because Mrs V and I bought a box set of 14 HCs in the sales, and partly because I heard on here that they're remaking it.

it gets in your head, much better than modern nonsense like Saw that rely on shocks and gore. Bet they ruin the remake by changing the birds into Nazguls or something.
