If you've read the bookthen go and watch it as if it's a totally different film and only tangentially connected, and you'll really enjoy the film. Well worth it.

Right - I'll start with the book.I ruined 'No Country for Old Men' for myself by seeing the (excellent) film first, so I won't make the same mistake.

I'd recommend it that way roundbut the film and book are different enough beasts that you could probably get away with it. It's just reading the book and then going watching the film and expecting a straight adaptation of the book... doesn't work.
