Someone just said 'revolutionary billion pixel sensor' on BBC2 just now
I appreciate he was referring to a telescope
but

I was told with much excitement about the "charge-coupled device".
Now every home has one, I've got two. A billion pixels? Won't be
long before we get that on a mid-range camera.

Phase one have released a camera that shoots as default something bonkers like 180mb jpgs, I know it's medium format, back that's technology that drips down as the years roll by

So if you're shooting RAW then you're gonna end up with about 4 meg snaps coming out of your pooter. that's fucking mental.

Just a shame the price tag of medium format is out there with the clouds.
I guess every photographer would love to get their mittens on one of these guys, but then the reality kicks in. Unless you are are more or less a studio based photographer, or being paid in a similar environment, justifying the cost would be daft given the top-end gear of Canon and Nikon can deliver so much more for situations that require more than shooting rates of barely more than one a second

I just bought a field spotter scope and adapter for my Nikon 5000. I think there will be bird stalking soon :)

git your DM. meant to reply, got drunk instead.
Oh and I don't have the D5000, I have a D90 SLR now, but that's too big for digiscoping ( too heavy, needs an expensive adapter and tripod )
I'm using my coolpix prosumer 5000's for that. These things. (I have 2 of them ) good all rounder, Macro is excellent.
