The original script of 'Macbeth' featured a lot of Battenberg cake
ALL. Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
2 WITCH. Battenberg, a lovely cake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
(and later)
First Witch
1 When shall we three meet again?
2 In thunder, lightning, or in rain?
Second Witch
3 Let us consult the soothful iPhones,
4 The Met Office says it shall hail great stones.
Third Witch
5 Upon the Tuesday we shall wake,
But please, no more Battenberg cake.
