That's the feeder to the antenna they are standing beside. Normal Coaxial cable melts at the sort of power they feed broadcast antennas with, so they have to use large diameter copper pipes.By the looks of it there's several kilowatts of RF power going up that one, irradiating the plucky adventurers. But then again, given their choice of hobbies they'll probably not live long enough to enjoy the full effects of the bone cancer they'll get by standing in the near field of a broadcast antenna going at full pelt
