Seriously considering dropping 200 notes on a Oculus rift 2 dev kit.
Any here got any experience with it?

I've got one of the first gen ones
It's "okay". I've played with the second gen one it's "A bit better". You'll get a bit of motion sickness if you're using modded games like Skyrim etc and there are a few decent things out there, but it's definitely not the finished article yet.
Having played Valkyrie with the full HD version recently at a show, they are really close to getting it perfect ... but I can say they're at last a year away from getting that version to market.
You'll also need a rocking graphics card with good 3d support (obviously), 3/4 GB of RAM and that's going to set you back at least £250+ as a minimum too.

Maxed out my ram to 16gb when it was cheap
Got a GTX580 starting to age but overclocked stable to 920ghz still plays most things well.
When you say "full HD version" is that Dev kit 2 or something else?

I assume he means the dev 2 at 1080
I almost clicked 'buy' the other day too, just from Elite: Dangerous reviews. This one in particular, even though it's the lower def dev kit, really brought home to me why I need one in my life, like, yesterday. www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/12/20/elite-dangerous-oculus-rift/

i have plenty
Ordered second gen as soon as available and using first gen with this now: emrlabs.com/index.php?pageid=3 it's pretty epic.
I was a member of MTBS3D some years before the rift and was a keen HMD forum member: I have a blog here documenting things up until the rift and slightly beyond, an interesting read if you can be arsed:
www.wastedspace.co.uk/cms/2010/10/06/hmd-project-part-1/
(Navigate with arrows on left / right side of screen to stay on topic)
The Rift is fun, but not yet polished. grab the 2nd gen and a razor hydra or better yet a STEM - sixense.com/hardware/wireless and life is fun :)

Cheers, i'll have a read of that.
Just placed my order, roll on august.
Looks like it may be a while longer for the retail units as the lawyers are out over Carmac and what he may have been sharing from his old job.
