This is a normal post I think this is the toolset which is going to expand videogames' lexicon
The algorithms that underpin this admittedly impressive universe will be appearing in all sorts of triple-A titles in the future. As for No Man's Sky itself - I think it will be an ambitious technical demo which will suffer because of the hype heaped on it.

This is a normal post Most game engine technology is based on completely different principles than this.
Such a thing cannot be easily retrofitted to existing tech. So, if triple-A titles want this, they're going to have to use this engine, or build their own similar engine. So, even if the gameplay itself is not that thrilling, other developers will be clamouring to license this tech for their own games.

Most games will not see any benefit from such a thing anyway. If your engine can create a galaxy with so much real-estate that there are more planets than there are people in the real world, you've got serious game design issues to solve; how do you make sure people meet each other and interact?

I'm seriously considering applying to work for these guys; I wanna know how they solved the rivers/canyons problem, because I've been trying to do that for months.
