Was listening to some discussion of this on the radio in Germany yesterday
The one thing that stood out to me was that the US had sold its moral high-ground down the river with these medieval practices and NOT ONE SINGLE PIECE of useful information was obtained in the process.

There are many reports that useful information came about because of this.
The purpose of this report was to knock the other political party, so that might have been overshadowed. It is there, if you look, however.

It's odd to say that the ends justify the means
