The CAD folks are attempting to show how daft dino-denialists are, by appearing to take their side and posting tripe like this ^^.
The pity is that they are taken seriously by both sides.

Says who? Who made you the comedy police? Why should stuff be labelled for idiots? I don't like this CAD joke for a variety of reasons such as I don't think it's funny, and I hate that creationism seems only to be used as source material for Christian bashing. All of the fairy tale brigade, Jews, Muslims etc, are creationists. However I admire how CAD has taken in so many mugs who need a laughter track overdubbed on their comedy.

Seems odd that a satirical act would set their Facebook page to private/invite only.
Although I guess they could be safeguarding themselves from angry Christians.
If it is comedy, the "knowing wink" that you have spotted is proving elusive to a great many.

person/group that had started that thread on mumsnet that was posted on here that was obviously a joke, but I concede that this loony probably isn't joking. However I still take issue with your suggestion that satire needs to be signposted. That's just not true. Sometimes the more subtle the satire, the more effective it is. Satire is primarily a method of criticism, humour is secondary, or even a by product.

you're taking my "knowing wink" comment literally when it wasn't meant to be.
I meant "a tiny thread of information to unravel should you question its motivation"

Now go to your room and think about what you've done.

like in the video?

Surely neither is secondary? Certainly not a by-product though, the by-product would be the satire.
Edit: should read 'could be the satire'.

I crap on about satire so much on here I'm even boring myself. Satire is criticism under the veil of ridicule. How witty or humorous that attempted ridicule actually is varies enormously, and obviously is subjective. So for example, all those Charlie Hebdo cartoons were satirical, but witty? Funny? Not in my opinion, well maybe a few of them, but mainly not at all.

Wit doesn't have to be witty and funny doesn't have to be 'ha ha'.

it's a joke?
Do they understand what a joke is?
to me they're just doing this...

Pretty much a large section of the internet in a nutshell.

I don't know why it's set to private - trying to appear like paranoid fundies perhaps - but I was added within a minute or two of my request. For research purposes, natch.
It's quite a mosh pit in there! All sorts of different factions are joining in - dinofundies, creationists, antidinofundies, satirists, palaeos, plus legions of sniggereing trolls/redditors.
It's really worth a read but it'll leave your head spinning trying to figure out who is deluded and who is disingenuous.

There's *far* too much shit in the FB thread to be screencapping anything, but have a look at this blog post and then have a look at their best of CAD.

...isn't an effective 'repeat until funny' strategy.

If the internet hasn't amused me within about 20 seconds, I go and look at boobies instead.
