Yeah, it's 'Beat' Takeshi
On my first day in Japan I was talking to my supervisor about Japanese culture that I liked, and I talked about the highly moving and violent films of Takeshi Kitano. She pissed herself laughing, he's seen as a complete buffoon over there.
Imagine if Chris Evans started making serious films that become really popular in Asia and you've got a similar thing.
