This is a link post First Darwin award from Tesla "Self Drive"
Apparently it's more important for a grown man to watch Harry Potter than to stay alive. This will be the first of many many deaths due to stupidity.

The article says he got 8 speeding tickets in 6 years - Doesn't the US have a system like ours where you get your licence taken away if you're clearly a fucking liability? Or is it like with guns, where if you're a danger, they give you more?

This is a normal post He may have read the car's specs
and thought the number before 'hp' indicates how many minutes of Harry Potter you can watch safely while driving.

This is a normal post Shouldn't the car computer have a speed cut-off?
If a car is doing 70MPH and then tells you it is handing over control that doesn't give you much time to do anything about it. I thought the main selling point was that, as a driver you could switch off in heavy, slow moving traffic.

This is a normal post they made the marketing decision
to label it as "autopilot", then announce quietly that it's not a "full autopilot".

This is a normal post The max speed in the US is 55 mph I think??
They 100% could just speed limit the bugger based on GPS.

But then again half the point of the Tesla is that it does 0-60 in like 2.5 seconds ....

Automated driving systems are fine ..until they aren't and then you're fucked. I'd rather die through my own incompetence than trust a programme that CANNOT SEE A FUCKING TRUCK IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.

This is a normal post I can't even use cruise control without freaking out
55 isn't the max though and enforcement is close to non existent anyway
