I stayed in one as it went into the attic
and it was less scary (aside from the risk of being stuck there for days whilst the one guy that services them in the UK came back from holiday.
IT was fine, and managd to haul me around the top.

attenborough building, leicester uni...
...had (still has?) a paternoster
sometimes there would be a queue at the ground floor because each car could only fit 2/3 people
but you could skip it by jumping in one of the cars going down.. it would take you around the bottom and you'd come up in front of the waiting students... it was even more fun to watch their puzzled faces if you did a handstand whilst out of sight and reappeared upside down :)
