it's a paltry fee, and there would be a certain joy in willfully paying it with a smile and still taking your kid out of school.

the irony of the whole thing is that he's taught his kid a really bad lesson in this whole process.

This is a normal post From what I remember of the original story was that he objected to treated as a criminal for doing so.
To be clear the £60 fine is a penalty notice given instead of prosecution because you've broken the law.
The local education could decided to take you to court instead where the fine could be much higher and you'll get a criminal record.

But it's a nice little earner for them as tens of thousands are issued each year. So they'll keep on fining instead probably.

So they are saying it's mega harmful to the child but won't use they're full powers to prosecute and try and stop it happening.

This is a normal post his argument seems to be that his "rights" were taken away.

This is a normal post I thought it was that the law could be interpreted several ways and he objected to be classes a criminal?
Also I was never taken out of school for a holiday and look and my fucking spelling!

This is a normal post it's basically a parking ticket
I feel annoyed when I get one, but I won't be going to the supreme court to battle it out with the council.

I bet he's one of those nightmare dads furiously circling some seaside town on holiday looking for a place to park because he's too tight to use the pay and display.

This is a normal post Well he took it to the local court who found in his favour.
This is because the council took it further.
Now it goes back to local court who can find him £2500 and give him a criminal record.

This is a normal post At the bottom of the article they have stats
which show 8 people were given custodial sentences. I'd cheerfully pay £60 to avoid getting bummed off a murderer.
