This is a normal post Maybe she might even get to learn something whilst she's inside so she doesn't have to mooch off society forever.

I wonder who did that...oh I know it was Chris Grayling the Tory

This is a normal post Sorry but the judge shares the blame here.
He's the one who decided to try and subsequently sentence her without her having any legal advice.

This is a normal post "‘It is wholly unsatisfactory that the system conspires against a vulnerable individual like this"
Said the judge who deemed the trial fit to go ahead and sent her down for 6 months despite having the power to throw the case out or give her lower sentence.

Anyone else get they feeling he's purposely thrown her under a bus to make a point about the legal aid system?
(, Thu 20 Apr 2017, 13:12, Reply)
This is a normal post Nah.
Reading between the lines she was clearly a habitual, confrontational and aggressive beggar. The euphemism "accosting" was employed and this breach of the court order was apparently mitigated by the fact she had not bean "aggressive" (presumably she has form for often being aggressive if that's all she's got for mitigation). As for the "fragile and vulnerable", don't take that literally. It means homeless/drug or drink dependence/mental health issues. It does not mean she can't look after herself on the streets or in the nick. Nor will it be her first trip to the nick. I do think it's shameful she had no legal representation, but it was a cut and dry case of a breach of a court order for persistent anti social behaviour, so I really don't think it would've helped. Nevertheless it is shameful. Absolutely everyone in the legal world hates any funding cuts to that world because that's where they make their bread, turkeys don't vote for Christmas. But yes, she ought to have had representation.

This is a normal post But 6 months for begging?
Seems a tad harsh.
(, Thu 20 Apr 2017, 14:15, Reply)
This is a normal post Well, maybe.
But we weren't told how many times she'd been let off with warnings, ASBO, etc, or just how aggressive her modus operandi was. The fact that despite all his bleeding heart hand wringing and her being so very fragile and vulnerable he only reduced the sentence by time already served suggests to me she is more than a little bit of a cunt. I mean if you get remanded for such an apparently trivial matter you must have quite some previous.

This is a normal post Fuck me.
What those cunts at the Guardian choose not to tell you because it doesn't suit their agenda. Then mugs disseminate the shit further without the full facts. Truly, fake news. She still should have had legal representation despite being utter scum.

Good work, detective.

This is a normal post about £40k p/a, plus upfront costs like coppers and court. so maybe £30k for 6 months
she'll be out in 3 months on probation, desperate and poor, re-offend, then back in for another 6/12 months, £65k for a years custodial (inc costs). Then she'll be out, penniless & die in the gutter (£8k). Or she might go round a few more times.

So her last 2 years of life will cost about £100k, maybe lots more. (I work in the sector)

If only we had some sort of care system to look after the vulnerable and move them away from this cycle.

Naa fuck it, yay austerity!!

This is a normal post Er, it was she who was exploiting the vulnerable.

This is a normal post oh yeah, you're totally right, back to prison, that'll fix it
naa, don't bother with a (much cheaper) rehab or care programme

im sure she's of totally sound mind and does crimes for the thrill

yeah thats what normal, balanced happy, healthy people do, rob and take advantage of the vulnerable

there is zero chance that she is also some sort of nutter in need of care & support

prison, prison is the answer. prison works so well, people go in, learn their lesson, come out, BOOM reformed, productive members of society.

thats why prisons are so empty, its a deterrent, a deterrent that works.

good job you're here sorting things out

(I work in the sector. I'm not going to argue with you Prufrock, I know I can't win against your grumpy old right-wing bugger demeanour)

This is a normal post When you say "work in the sector" which sector is that?
Do you mean the prison welfare sector or the aggressive begging and fleecing of the vulnerable sector? Because if it's the latter then you should be ashamed of yourself.
