to be a bus driver of skies. You can't even get leathered before take off without some jobs-worth CAA cunt crashing into the cockpit with a stern expression and a breathalyser. I'm seriously, how dull must this job be?

I suppose if you got on a good route or routes with nice stopovers it could be ok for a bit.
It's hardly surprising drinking is an issue though, what else are you meant to do on a short stopover?
