This is a normal post On another ship, another company...
An engineer took out the crankshaft of a small engine (1000hp class) for a tiny mod to save a few quids for the company.
Utmost care was taken to disassemble the heads and cylinder blocks.
It was then softly softly taken across the engine room to the workshop to the lathe.
Where it was placed and adjusted to a 1000th.
Same thing with the counter point and the tool.
Then everything was measured again 10 times with faffing on bomb fuse removal level.

Then the lathe was started for the one and only cut needed.

The thing wobbled like a demented brick fed washing machine smashing up the lathe and tool carrier.
Before freeing itself and careenering across the room twating everything in sight.
Nobody was injured but the most expensive part on an expensive engine was more fucked than Georgina Spelvin.

Ah yes, one must tighten the bloody jaws, someone must have thought.

Épilogue:
He was not even fired, a new engine was delivered, the lathe now does ovals and is still in use, all was well untill a main engine split in two some time later.

This is a normal post I hate it when that happens.
I've been remarkably lucky. I've got a Deckel mill, which is a brilliant universal machine. But it can munch itself if not careful.

This is a normal post That account is a remarkably apt description
of the last time I attempted to make love to a woman.
