Instead he does what all fuckwits do when there are opposing views and reinforces entrenched positions.
Trump is a despicable piece of work and De Niro could be promoting an alternative that appeals to the majority. Instead he plays to the partisan crowd that not so long ago was covering up for a major sexual devient.
In any case, why do we think someone who plays make believe for a living and is a friend of a child rapist has great insight into what the world needs right now?

I might as well discount what you're saying because you're a milkman or whatever the fuck it is you do.
If you want to make a platform to campaign against Trump, then that's great.
And if you just want to let the world know that other people are just thinking 'Fuck Trump' then that's also great.
Those 30% of people that are entrenched, fuck them. The best the world can hope for is that they stop voting (frankly any reason is acceptable). They are lost causes. Fuck them, the stupid, authoritarian loving, racist enabling scum.
All the US needs is the middle, and you can reach them just as well with a little vulgarity as you can with a purely rational approach.
Also, you're really keen to dismiss him personally (and the whole industry in fact) after he said what seems pretty fair-- why carry that water for Trump?

That works fine as well, and in fact without it all the swearing is just noise.
But I don't subscribe to the idea that you either make a well reasoned, thoughtful (even forgiving?) argument or else you stay silent.
Sometimes you can reason with a person, but sometimes you just have to tell people they are being fucking idiots.

But to avoid letting their bullshit somehow become 'the new normal' through sheer unchallenged repetition, yeah, I think it probably does help.
It was only a small number of voters that swung it for the fucker, if him being visibly unpopular (in a way that everyone can understand) helps to narrow that, then I'm for taking that low road.

Absolutely, you can discount what I say, but I don't have a crowd telling me I am wonderful.
Actors always develop a very inflated opinion of their own abilities. They believe they are mentally and morally equivalent to the people they portray and forget they are just the front to someone else's thoughts. The stage and adulation distort their own sense of self-worth.
Trump is a shit, but grandstanding like this only means 4 more years in the Whitehouse for him. It reinforces all the stereotypes of Hollywood as corrupt, vain hypocrites who cover up the filth among themselves whilst lecturing ordinary people on how to behave.
