The fastest I've crashed is around 30mph. And that was onto gravel with a full face helmet on.
50mph in nothing but some lycra and a road helmet directly into rigging is inconceivable.

I couldn't make out exactly what happened,
in terms of what solid metal objects hit where, but it looked like he took the crash barrier directly to his face. Horrible.
