In 2014, the skeletons of 800 babies were found thrown in a septic tank in Galway. The Catholic Church in Ireland did this. A commission was set up to investigate. The Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation.
The findings of this commission are about to be locked away for 30 years.
This means, No one will be able to find information about missing relatives, or relatives buried in unmarked graves. Information about how the system of forced separation of mothers and babies in Ireland was run, will be sealed away too.

I thought the Irish government was all modern or summat, sounds like they're living in the dark ages??
as for the church, I doubt they ever really change, despite all the appologies over the pedo cover up (more like, they're sorry they got found out)

They don't understand that being secretive weakens the institutions they're ostensibly trying to protect.

Maybe, but it also prevents reprisals against those responsible who may still be alive. Even if the actual perpetrators aren't around any more, it's quite likely that there are still people around who actively covered it up, or just knew and did nothing.

there's a secure place for those people who helped cover it up, it's called jail

Anyone who wants to talk about abuses within an organisation will be weeded out 90% of the time; leaving those who will go along to get promoted.
