That news site has aggressively awful cookie banners. If you accept, they disappear immediately. If you deny anything they sit there faking a processing delay for about a minute.

I've gotten into the habit of just clicking "Yes, okay, whatever" to the unending cycle of hell that is cookie popups.
But I went back and cleared my cookies to see what you were on about and you're right. That is awful.

I use Privacy Badger to automatically deny them and it usually has the desired effect.
