I’m just on watching a video about him and his illegal “lotteries”.
Apparently he has tens of millions of subscribers on YouTube but apart from Legal Eagle’s video I’ve never fucking heard of him. Would it be a good guess to say all his videos start with “hey guys!”?

I was aware of him only because each time I hit YouTube's front page without being logged in there would be at least one representation of his gurning face and blindingly white photoshopped teeth in thumbnail form.

You don't need to view a video (embedded) for it to affect your algorithm selections.
Merely having your browser load the preview image is enough. No login needed either - it will associate by IP, browser fingerprint etc, so anything loaded on links will affect your suggested videos on YT.
