This is a normal post A description of either the engine configuration or possibly, its housing
Appears to have been developed for the Ariel Square Four motorcycle.

This is a normal post It’s the ratio between the stroke and the bore. (Steady on)
If the stroke is longer than the bore is wide an engine is under square and vice versa. You get better torque at low RPM with under square engines but over square engines can run faster.

I haven’t watched yet so there’s a chance they’re talking about a funky dual crankshaft layout but that’s what square usually means when it comes to engines.

This is a normal post I think what they're on about is the cylinder layout
so basically two parallel twins next to each other. Not sure of the setup at the bottom, two crank shafts (steady on) or what kind of heads but this is all about air-cooled two-strokes so the problem is keeping the rear two cylinders cooled. I mean, it's an issue with 4-stroke V-twins so must be a 'mare when you've got all 4 cylinders in a block.

I've got a V4 and that gets fucking hot.

This is a normal post Well that sorts the whole issue out doesn't it?

This is a normal post I initially thought that
but then I gogled it before I clicked 'post' and two twins next to each other (giggidy) is the correct answer.

You can have a square, and oversquare, cylinder, but a square four engine, as opposed to a square cylinder, is a different thing and or more to do with layout than bore x stroke.
