Just waffling on with a theory - I reckon there is the perfect size for a band to be, and after that annoyances start to set in with going to gigs.
(I was just looking at their gigs earlier and saw it was only massive venues and cities, and thought it was a shame the mid-sized venues won't see them again.)

it was a pretty perfect size for them and they were doing smaller venues around the UK, I wouldn't say that the (Hammersmith) Apollo was that big a venue and I'll try to see them again this year. I agree though, smaller gigs have an infinitely better atmosphere.
