also a lot of righteous anger about stealing the work of creative people in a video which does not have a single original defining element. Everything in this is drawn from the work and ideas of others who came before. I don't think it's any better than the thing it criticizes.

Yes, almost everything builds on what has gone before, with humans making attempts to verify, the current iteration of 'AI' doesn't seem to differentiate much between established fact and opinion/propaganda/conspiracy bollocks.

At first I thought the whole 'I asked ChatGPT and...' was a joke, but it turns out that they're genuinely fact checking everything via LLM's instead of researching and verifying things independently. A huge number of these kids have completely lost the inability/incentive to think for themselves because ChatGPT is giving them that instant hit in much the same way as their short-form infinite-scrolling social media platforms do.
I suppose you could argue that it's no worse than our generation relying on Wikipedia as a reliable source of information, but something about this seems far more portentous.
