At least they are being upfront about it being a remake
When The Strangers came out, the producers said it wasn't a remake of Ils (them) it just happened to be based on the same story.
And since Let the Right One In is based on a book, they could say the same here

Almost as soon as it was released, the merkins decided to make a shot by shot (and shitter) remake called Quarantine.
