That is massive!
I saw the Red Bull motorbike stunt team at the weekend, and I don't get how you figure out you can do this sort of thing? You can't just go "right, today i'm going to try and backflip this thing over a 40 foot gap", surely??

If you have a distance and the mass of the object that will travel it you can work out how much force it needs surprisingly easy. You've probably done it yourself mentally while throwing a tea bag in the bin.
Of course lives are at stake here so they probably used a pencil and paper and had someone check it.. maybe two people.
Those Red Bull guys just use more paper and people.
