This is a normal post It depends what you are trying to defend
If you are wanting to stop a massive laden lorry from entering a carriageway the wrong way, potentially killing tens of people, the "collateral damage" of the driver in the crashing vehicle is an "acceptable loss". But if you are trying to stop a speeding vehicle from escaping the police, then yes these can be a bit too violent... but these are barriers to prevent things getting through.

This is a normal post Maybe but that violence could be a great deterrent... plus it ends chases really quickly.

This is a normal post Interesting examples given there of who deserves to die and who doesn't
Apparently a dimwit who accidentally enters a dual carriageway the wrong way does, yet a criminal who is attempting to flee the police doesn't. Both risk the lives of other innocent motorists/pedestrians, but the criminal's life seems to be more precious to you.
