but if they are anarchists surely they should approve of the system (facebook) being overthrown and their pages being shut down causing disruption and confusion?

I sincerely apologise with all my heart that my misreading has caused such offence.
The fact that at least one of the sites shut down mentions Anarchists should not be taken in to account.
Also, I said "if they are" not "these people are all anarchists"

Might take me a while to find my special over-the-top-sarcasm-piercing bullets though.

Anarchism just means individual freedom opposed to a single ruler
to that end facebook as an idea is quite an anarchist one, or at least it should be.
I think theres a bit of a disconnect between peoples image of anarchists and the actual political ideology surrounding anarchism.
According to george orwell "../said anarchists are not against organisation as such; they are only against organisation based on authority, i.e. a hierarchical form of organisation"

an·ar·chist (noun) a person who promotes disorder or excites revolt against any established rule, law, or custom.
Facebook can easily be described as a custom in this day and age, and more importantly one that profits from the sharing of information, bad advertising etc etc the stuff that in the old days anarchists would be fucking furious about.
I find anarchy very odd when it is only aimed at specific things, doesn't seem like anarchy to me, more just displeasure with one company/organisations success.
