
they used to have - and maybe still do have* - a paternoster lift. I was dying to stay in it for a whole circuit, just because I could; sadly, I was with someone much more mature on the one occasion I was there.

My favourite anecdote/potential urban myth concerns the one previously at Leeds University.
On applicant tours, they would take the group past and explain that they need to be careful if they ever go over the top in it. To demonstrate, the tour guide hops in only to emerge on the opposite side doing a handstand.
