This is a normal post a friend of mine in the art industry
explained to me how this sort of thing works. usually the top bidders are connected to the seller, and they ramp the price up to make the artist look all important and stuff. happens all the time apparently.

That no real money actually changed hands (Except auction commission) - this I could understand.

Somebody actually chasing the price up that high and then paying it, makes me a little bit sad. OR maybe the print comes in a platinum diamond encrusted frame.
