I'm paying close attention to the legality of it...
I'd never take it outside with the turrent attached, that would be damned silly. I'm actually a total pacifist but have a lot of curious energy so I build things like this! ;-)

If you're not taking it outside then I wouldnt worry too much.
Those "yellow gun" laws are pretty much for people selling them.
In the eighties some kid in N.I got shot pointing a toy gun out a window.
Think that was where things started.

I'd rather be safe than sorry!
The way I see it, if you're waving a weapon around in public, expect to get shot, I certainly wouldn't like one pointed at me. I might change the yellow for pink though! ;-)

I know quite allot about imitation firearms laws and actually your one is an imitation firearm and not a replica imitation firearm if it is bright yellow, red, orange, pink or green. Really you shouldn't have been allowed to purchase it if it wasn't sold in one of those colours as its a RIF and you probably don't have a valid exemption from the VCRA 2006. As you say, you still can't legally wave it around in public. But there you go, its not like the police, shops or anyone seems to give a toss about these laws any more, apart from when they want to crucify one of my law abiding friends...
Anyway, crux of it is that you are doing nothing illegal by owning or using or modifying it although you did break the law when you purchased it I'm afraid!
