This is a link post I'm sure the video has already been linked to...
but the article that goes with it amused me.

This is a normal post So, in summary:
Photographer, while in the right, is a dick about it.
Golden Wonder security are assholes.
Photographer posts a one-sided account of the event to a website, gets one-sided comments in return.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking you for posting this, I'm just a little mystified as to why this story seems to have the legs it does.

This is a normal post I'm not sure that the photographer is being a dick, to be honest.
Unless your definition of being a dick includes refusing to bow to imbecility.

This is a normal post I actually felt a bit sorry for that female security guard
She reminded me of the supply teachers we used to torment at school.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:15, Reply)
This is a normal post Did you ever make your supply teachers resign?
Apparently those guards left after this video.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:19, Reply)
This is a normal post The supply teachers' furious frustration was borne from having their legitimate authority and reasonable requests ignored
Whereas those guards were obviously dim-witted pricks.
However, as someone who also suffers from Camera Induced Impotent Rage Syndrome, I still have some sympathy for them.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:30, Reply)
This is a normal post Ah this is starting to sound like a proper debate...
before we continue will you at any point be calling me an "major ill-informed prick"?

Because if thats the case I would much rather we agree to disagree and live in harmony etc.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:40, Reply)
This is a normal post I think there has to be a compromise in this case
If he had put his camera away, they would have backed down. With them back down, he could have been less of a tool, and explained that whilst he doesn't wish to cause them or the workers any distress, he is well within his rights. Hand them a pamphlet and walk on.

He could even have explained his reasons - website/!!it's the fucking crisp factory where all the crisps come from!! WOOHOO!. He isn't obliged to - but these are the small sacrifices you make to be a nice person.

And they could have asked him to move along, and went back to their kiosk and waited. Or better yet, not let the tea get cold and watch him - like they were being paid to do.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:51, Reply)
This is a normal post Ha, no, no name-calling from me.
I'm still not even sure whose side I'm on tbh. I dislike the obstinacy and contrariness of the photographer (how long did he REALLY need to be there, and why didn't he just explain what he was doing?), and the security guards' bluffing and inability to air any reasonable concerns ("You might be planning a crisp heist" would have sufficed) are just pitiful. What say you?
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:55, Reply)
This is a normal post I say....
On one hand there's the law.
Everyones entitled to take photographs from a public space with a few exceptions and
private property isn't one of them.

On the other hand hand can apply this same right on private homes, people grieving etc.
I was surprise to learn this in the other thread I thought there was some right to privacy if requested.
some times people would prefer it if you didn't exercise your right to take their photo.

But i'm not schooled in law and neither I guess were the guards so the assumption could be
they thought they were doing nothing wrong.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:03, Reply)
This is a normal post I dont think there is a privacy law as such at the moment - I suspect that the Leveson enquiry might suggest that there should be one though.
Only for individuals I hope, not for crisp factories in Scunthorpe.

This is a normal post Really? Because acording to his site and other reports including local tv they resigned.
Golden Wonder apologised to him and invited him to the factory to take all the pictures he wants.

This is according to the internet as accurate as that is though.

This is a normal post Maybe I am getting confused with google
but I was sure, when this first came up they said they 'no longer worked at the golden wonder site' or words to that effect.

Though if they resigned, I would understand that after the HOUNDING they got from B3ta.
