Interesting film adaptation of the original story done in the style of a silent black and white movie.

I've got the DVD of this. It's very well made and the DVD is well worth getting as it also has a very interesting making-of documentary. More info here:

The H P Lovecraft Historical Society have also made an adaptation of another Lovecraft story, The Whisperer In Darkness, which is in the style of a 1930s talkie, but I only found out about it recently and haven't yet had a chance to order the DVD. There's a website for Whisperer:

Whisperer's on order now, but I epxect it'll take a while to get here, what with them being in the States...

I'm a bit obssesed with Lovecraft at the moment with making a little dolly of him:

the finished one will have him holding 3 miniature editions of Astounding Stories. They'll be up for sale in the
site in about a week

btw, what's your take on the racism in Lovecraft's fiction? Even as a teen I remember wincing & thinking "just remember he was writing in the early 20th century. A different time", though I think even then it would've been unacceptable for a lot of people.

that's how I look at it. I remember in some Hemingway, I nearly fell off the chair when he mentioned the n word as narrator rather than a character saying it.
(cheers btw!)

Creatures of their generations etc. (i.e. racist like the rest)

I really love that (just checked out your blog), the level of exaggeration is spot on. BTW, having checked out the other items on your blog I think you're massively underselling your products! When you consider how much mass-produced figures cost, you should be asking at least double.

As good as any film I've watched over the past few years.
Will definitely buy this on DVD.
