This is a normal post Someone at Unisys was trying to justify their paycheck.
The soft g sound was dreamed up by someone in marketing who was trying to create a cute mnemonic. Since the G in 'graphics' is a hard one, I've dismissed the soft pronunciation as someone trying to be cute.
