This is a normal post I bought a Japanese import before the UK ones were on the market (although by the time it arrived the UK ones were released)
No need to file anything down for me, the slot was rounded. :p

Also, I remember mine cost £120... the UK ones were released at £189!

This is a normal post I went from a zx128k to a megadrive.
"Arcade style graphics" was the major tag line.
Only game that sticks in my mind is Sonic 1.
Got a Snes a few years later for mario and Ghouls and Ghosts.

And just plain lusted after a Neo-Geo with Metal slug.

This is a normal post Weren't the games for that really expensive.

This is a normal post The games were hard to find since it wasn't released in the uk
some of them became rarities, I think I have a boxed splatterhouse somewhere which was quite sought after.

The real pricey ones were neo geo games at over a hundred quid each.

This is a normal post Neo Geo carts are still fricking expensive.
A while back I looked into buying one.

A used console will set you back a couple of hundred.
The metal slug series will cost you between 500 and a grand each and good luck getting the first one.

This is a normal post
I was only little (13) when they were released, so getting my parents to buy an imported console from the back of Mean Machines was a waste of time. They got me the MD for Christmas and probably paid full price for it. I've just been looking and you can buy the handheld console for £39.99 :)

This is a normal post I was around the same age, and yeah... back pages of Mean Machine (or maybe C&VG)
My parents probably did the ol' "are you sure that's what you want?" thing before they ordered it... and it was out of my xmas money anyway, then my brother "chipped in" after the fact - the fat arsed cunt.
