To be fair advertising a camera on the strength of the fact you don't have to shoot in focus is quite insulting, if you can't shoot in focus you shouldn't be taking pictures.

I really can't see the point of them
unless you can get a photo with it in focus all the way through somehow, so you could have a f1.8 lens but still have a deep depth of field

I can actually see these working for Astro-photography
not sure the techs up to scratch yet though. With astro, it's incredibly difficult to get good focus and maintain it well. If this kind of tech could be applied to long exposure photography, it could be a huge benefit!
