
but you can't help but notice that the roads are comparatively wide and not very congested. Start threading enormous buses through Central London and see how different it gets.

in berlin you can:
legally cycle on the pavements (in most areas)
no one gets pissy if you don't wear a helmet
you only get fined for cycling crimes if you cause an accident
most flats and apartments have cycle parking
you can your bike on most public transport (incl. underground)
motorists are given cycle specific training as part of licencing
it's piss easy to hire a bike
and yes the roads are really wide.
