This is a link post Curry & Chips
I watched the Eric Sykes docco on BBC2 tonight and found that this comedy sit-com was made.
I never knew it had been ... Spike Milligan and Eric Sykes starred ... with some 'stars' of my child-hood.

Interesting stuff.
(some racist language - it's the 1970's)
Edit - was canned by LWT (London TV of the time) - read this

This is a normal post I have heard of this...
...but must have blanked it from my mind because I've never actually seen it, so thanks for the link, though I may have to psych myself up first before watching! In the meantime, don't forget Spike also made the Pakistani Daleks sketch for Q6:

WARNING! Clip intro contains astonishing levels of Whovian geekery...

This is a normal post It's actually a fascinating cultural artefact.
It was written by Johnny Speight and was intended to highlight the kind of racial bigotry prevalant in the UK at the time. However, it was widely misunderstood and cancelled after six episodes aired.

I've had digital copies of the show for quite a while.

This is a normal post Is art reflecting and decrying bigotry bigotry itself bigoted?
So not sure about the racist tag... made in britain (to a lesser degree), romper stomper and american history X aren't neo-nazi even if that's the subject matter. Revisionism has become a rule by fear, an implicit non-choice - say the right thing or be damned...

This is a normal post I suspect it was cancelled because it was crap and the jokes weren't funny.
