This is a normal post I used to buy wood from a guy who did this by the side of the road
I'd get maybe 30-50kg at a time, just loose in the cavernous boot of my knackered old 1983 shitheap car. Took an hour or more to unload it into a neat pile by the back door. Worth every minute.

There's something viscerally satisfying about every stage of a wood fire, from sitting under the growing tree to emptying out the ashes. Just a shame there are so damn many of us people types, or I'd advocate more open wood fires.

This is a normal post I have 2! *smugs*
No central heating though, and keeping them stoked is a bitch. And they make a mess.

This is a normal post But it's a manly mess
It's a mess that grows a beard and goes fishing at weekends, even if it's pissing down and it has to cut a hole in the ice with its bare hands.

This is a normal post Easy if you have well seasoned wood otherwise it's a bitch.

This is a normal post Very true
This technique can only be used on certain species (which will split nicely). Being frozen also helps the process. I was felling trees last week with an axe and it's hard work!
