The bit with the meat filled boot at the end made me laugh though.
Does anyone know the law on this? I'd imagine keeping even a pick axe handle for self defence purposes is a tad illegal?

Edit: how sad that we have to question the legality of a "victim" defending him/herself.

but they would have to prove it. A guy I know keeps a baseball bat in his car, but he also keeps a baseball and a glove. Not illegal. After all you have to play it outdoors etc.
Might be on sticky ground if he ever does twat someone with it though.

Got a bedroom fireplace? Keep some brass bits next to it. Including a solid metal 3 foot long poker...

Oddly enough, this would be perfectly fine to have under the law (not to carry around, concealed weapon), since its straight, and a properly made blade.
Fake katanas that aren't properly forged (and anything else with a blade with more than a certain amount of bend) are illegal without a collector's licence, but anything well made (i.e. actually designed to kill people) is fine.
Most of this is due to how hard it is to legislate the difference between a weapon, kitchen equipment, and tools (e.g. wood axe, battleaxe, novelty meat cleaver)

unless they are a certified antique, and even then, you can't wander the streets with them

and in the same way those foldy up ones are a bit tricky is you can catch them in the ground, curb, escaltor runner, i've done it on my own shoe. Now while the foldy up sticks cause you to go "oh scruttocks" and have to reassemble slightly... this one exposes the sharpest thing within 5 miles and leaves you with either risk of serious injury or an uncomfortable excuse and apology.
so the comfotable feeling of "it's always there" isn't a comfortable feeling anymore.
is that too many comfortables?
