American journalist gets upset because girls won't charge for lemonade:
"No wonder America is getting it all wrong when it comes to government, and taxes, and policy. We all act as if the "lemonade" or benefits we're "giving away" is free."

I laughed at "And that's the Savage Truth!" as a way to end the article, written by Terry Savage.

what kind of example is that to set for the kids.
They aren't even his words, they belong to the Sun Times!

But if one were to be charitable, and avoid falling into the trap of being equally churlish, one could argue that his exasperation was at the fact that the girls are actually harming themselves and their parents by giving away things for free which clearly cost them time and money. The whole point of the article is that he argues that taxpayers harm themselves and each other by tolerating an over-generous use of their finite resources.

You're right, clearly he's not miserable.

The article even shows how they had adult supervision, so it's not like they were giving stuff away without consent.
He's trying to compare the situation with an economic system, when it's just plain charity. Probably the parents are teaching the children the virtue of sharing and charity.
There's only one way to look at the article, and that's one angry man trying to impose his ideals on others, and make a tenuous news story out of it.

Evidently, the parents are well off, to afford a nanny, so for them giving away Lemonade is not even noticed. There are some people with so much that they can afford to waste what to normal people seems excessive.
Yeah, the lesson here is that the wealthy are so out of touch with reality and waste resources while the rest of the world suffers the consequences.

He was beign given a lift. Was that for free or did he pay for for the privlege. Paying for petrol costs as well as a proportion of the cars running cost plus a bit extra as profit so that the car owner(s) could then go on to save up enough to buy a 2nd car and increase the size of their taxi business?
