This is a normal post I am very suspicious of this.
Might set up my oscilloscope and see what shapes it actually makes later.

This is a normal post Would it need to be an analogue type?
We've got a couple of low res Tektronix EDUs, and I wouldn't trust them to display any wave more complex than a sawtooth.

This is a normal post Seen this a few years ago - If you click on the "show more" he mentions how it was done
"What you see is what you hear: The audio signal is fed directly into the oscilloscope, where vector graphics are drawn with sound.

Filmed from an analog Tektronix 5103N scope.

left audio channel: horizontal deflection
right audio channel: vertical deflection

software used: Max MSP (spiral objects, etc.), OsciStudio & blender (teapot orbit & wireframe 3D objects), Ableton Live

so yeah suspicions confirmed 'tis not quite what it seems (but still a nice concept and better than anything I could come up with)
