A friend of mine perfected the "no eyes smile" - you smile with your mouth, but not your eyes. It's harder than it sounds.
Vaguely related fact - South East Asian emoticons represent smiling with eyes rather than mouths, like this (ಥ⌣ಥ)

its because they had 'different eyes' and so didn't understand 'our' ones.
And 'was told' this by someone that genuinely believed that to be true :)
