Some nob heads lifted the sluice gate earlier in the year which drained the lake leading to some very low level ford splash action for a couple of days. This also exposed the birds nesting around the lake to hungry foxes and the like.

I used to work in Rufford Park.
One night the lake disappeared completely, Due to subsidence it had all drained into the mine below. That was back in the day when Nottinghamshire still had a large mining industry. Thanks Thatcher.
