This is a normal post He was ill the week before this was broadcast...
..and, in those pre-editing times, programs were either live, or broadcast as recorded.

This was live - and he hadn't chance to learn his lines, so this is the first episode where he read his lines from idiot boards.

Learning lines was never easy for the lad, and he never learnt a script after this - using the Blood Donor as proof it wasn't necessary to learn lines.

You can see his eyes wandering about from time to time, looking for and reading his next lines. The radio version (or 'wireless', to give it's correct nomenclature) is a little smoother in delivery.

The combination of Galton, Simpson and Hancock has simply never been surpassed.

Genius.

This is a normal post Paul Merton's attempts
at copying Hancock and doing his sketches a few years back were terrible...nothing beats the genius of Hancock!

This is a normal post Yes. They weren't great.
But came from genuine love and admiration for Tub, so top marks to him for that.

I think Paul would have better off re-interpreting, rather than attempting to re-create/impersonate.

Still.

I'm as funny as genital herpes - so I can't cast aspersions.

That's a direct quote from the bibel - "let he that is without gential herpes cast the first aspersion"
